The Celtic peoples used a calendar based on nights rather than days, one dominated by the cycles of the moon and in their year, the festivals were counted outside of time. Samhain, is the feast of the new year.. when the world enters into darkness, from which all things can grow.
“Now at Samhain, on this the Isle of the Mighty, the other world is at its closest… The doors to Annwn are ajar and should we care but to look, we can see in the eyes of our mind, all those who have gone before.
Here as the dark gathers about us, it is time to feed the fires, enough to keep the wild at bay, but not so much that we dispel the shadows from the room’s corners…
…and in the safety of this circle we tell our tale.”
